Giving a Boost to a Sub Floor

Deon Sinclair | Big Red Cleaning & Restoration | Illawara, NSW

Photo of the month October 2021

The photo of the month goes to Deon Sinclair from Big Red Cleaning & Restoration. This is a straight forward target drying job on a wet subfloor.

As we can see from the photo, the flooring has been removed to expose the subfloor, which was the affected area.

The setup contains a Drymatic Boost Bar, which is seen to the right of the photo, and is connected to an Air Mover (not in picture) using a Fan to Boost Connector. The Boost Bar is then connected to some Floor Mats.

The Air Mover pumps air into the Boost Bar, which heats up the air and pushes it into the floor mats. The floor mats contain holes on the underside of the mat that create little micro jets of energy to target dry the subfloor.

Using this target drying method the surface temperature of the material is raised which increases the evaporation potential of the material. The moisture from the flooring escapes from the high vapour pressure of the material to the low vapour pressure of the air in the environment.

This is an easy way to dry only the affected area, rather than running dehumidifiers for the whole room, or heat drying the whole room. You can also control the environment even further by using an air conditioner or exhausting the air to outside to remove the moisture in the air.

Fantastic work Deon, great target drying on the affected subfloor.
