Video of the month - November 2022

What to do when the basketball stadium floods?! This month’s video Job of the Month was completed by Kyle Jones from Abril Cleaning & Restorations when an internal basketball stadium had cupping in the floorboards caused by flooding to half the stadium due to a leak through the ceiling and one side of the wall.  Although this job was dried in 2 weeks, the stadium had to be used over the weekend half way through, so restoration was completed in one week, packed down for the weekend and set up again for a second week.

First step was to contain the area with plastic in order to create a drying chamber. Drymatic heat drying equipment was put beneath the contained zone to heat up the area. This was carried out with a combination of equipment; Drymatic II was installed to help heat area, while pulling out moisture and exhausting it outside the containment zone and bringing in fresh dry air from the air-conditioned stadium heating it through the heater. Targeted heat was used with Drymatic Boost Bars with mats and were targeted on the heavily cupped floorboard areas, while Boost Bars with four port and 5 port adapter added further heat to containment.

With the Boost Bars, the air movers are sucking in the warm air into the fan and into the boost bar to raising the temperature by at least 10 degrees and the mats with the microjets of energy break into the boundary layer into the floor. The temperature of the floor was mid to high 40s (degrees) by the end of the process. A UbiBot monitoring system was used in this drying process and I helped co-monitor from Brisbane. The best part of this ever-ready employee was the alerts sent during the restoration process. In the first week, an alert was sent when some of the plastic and tape came apart and the humidity rose, and temperature dropped. This allowed for an attendance to sort of the leak straight away before losing too much momentum.

Overall, they created real warm dry air within the chamber and real hot air on the surface drying the floor flat. A great result and very happy customer.

Photo of the month - November 2022

A simple set up in the photo which consist of an Air Mover blowing into a Boost Bar blowing into 4 by .5 Drymatic Mat. The great thing about those mats is they can wrap around corners and so forth. The mat with the microjets of energy coming from the little holes to create impingement drying system (like making paper) is blowing air on to the surface to raise the surface temperature of the wall to dry the skirting in situ and leave in place. A great target system to dry the wall.

Well Done to Kyle and Daniel for winning our monthly competition in november 2022!
